I am an Associate Professor and Director of the Honors Program in the School of Journalism at Indiana University Bloomington. I have been on faculty here since August 2007. For 17 years prior to that I taught at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.
I teach photojournalism, publication design, and healthcare reporting. My research has lately focused on photojournalism ethics and how situational characteristics influence audience perceptions of photographers' actions confronting dilemma.
This summer I was in Kenya with 12 students who reported on HIV/AIDS and the work of the AMPATH project. Since 1990 I have headed or participated in a series of seven projects aimed at strengthening journalism and journalism education in South Asia and East Africa. Last summer I spent two months in London with 20 honors students who interned in the British media. I am Director of the School's Honors Program and hope you can visit our campus someday soon.
