IU SPJ members see the sights during the SPJ National Convention in Washington D.C. in October 2007.

We invite all young journalists at Indiana University to join the IU chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists. As a member of our organization, members have access to professional development, local connections, journalism advocacy and the industry’s latest news and information. In short, our organization prepares young journalists for the real world after graduation.

Members receive a subscription to Quill Magazine, SPJ’s official magazine. In addition, members receive other perks that include discounts on purchases such as car rentals.

As a member, journalists also gain access to the SPJ Freelancer Directory. The directory allows journalists to post contact information on the national SPJ Web site.

In order to be an IU SPJ member, you must be a member of the national SPJ and the IU SPJ chapter. To join the national SPJ, visit the organization’s Web site to sign up. Be sure to indicate that you would like to join the IU Chapter. Once a member of the national SPJ, contact Erin N. Riley, vice president of member services for the IU SPJ to complete your membership.
