Speaker Series
The School of Journalism Speaker Series gives students the opportunity to meet with some of the top media professionals in the country. Recent speakers include Pulitzer Prize winners Anna Quindlen and David Halberstam, as well as National Public Radio host Michele Norris, reporter Bob Woodward, international correspondent Christopher Hitchens, Sports Illustrated writer Frank Deford and seven-time Magazine Photographer of the Year James Nachtwey.
Andrea Koppel was most recently a congressional correspondent for CNN. Since joining CNN in 1993, she has reported from around the world and has followed three U.S. secretaries of state in their travels. Previously, Koppel served as the network’s Beijing bureau chief and correspondent, reporting from more than half of China’s 30 provinces.

William Safire, March 24
William Safire is the winner of the 1978 Pulitzer Prize for distinguished commentary. From 1972 to 2005, he wrote a political column on the opinion pages of The New York Times and continues to write a Sunday column that focuses on grammar, usage and etymology. He was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in a White House ceremony in 2006.- Safire will speak at 7 p.m. in Alumni Hall in the Indiana Memorial Union.
Michael Beschloss, April 14
Michael Beschloss is an award-winning historian of the presidency and the author of nine books, including his most recent best-seller, Presidential Courage. Beschloss is the presidential historian for NBC News and is a regular commentator on PBS’ The News Hour With Jim Lehrer. He also writes a regular column about history for Newsweek called "Traveling through History with Michael Beschloss."- Beschloss’s talk is at 7 p.m. in the IU Auditorium.
