Student Experiences

Ambassadors

The Journalism Ambassadors are a group of 25 friendly and outgoing sophomores, juniors and senior students who represent and promote the school at a variety of functions. Ambassadors are eager to share their experiences in journalism with prospective students, alumni and friends of the program.
During Welcome Week, Ambassadors serve on panels and answer questions for incoming journalism students. When well-known media professionals such as Michele Norris or Anna Quindlen come as part of the Speaker Series, the Ambassadors welcome them to IU.

Ambassadors met with alumni working at Hill & Knowlton, a public relations firm, during a trip to Chicago.
Another perk for Ambassadors is the networking road trip to meet journalism alumni and shadow them on their jobs.  The 2006-2007 Ambassadors visited Chicago to tour the Chicago Tribune, NBC5, the Hill & Knowlton public relations firm and Chicago Magazine, with a side trip to see the musical Wicked.
Ambassadors host at least 10 events per school year. Applicants submit a class schedule, a resume and a cover letter explaining why he or she is the ideal candidate to represent the School of Journalism.
Early in the fall semester, Ambassadors attend a team-building session and learn about the School of Journalism.

Apply online to be an Ambassador.
Deadline is April 23, 2008.
