Savage co-authors paper on radio crisis response

SoJ Web Report | Jan. 12, 2012
Graduate student Maureen Savage is a co-author of “Serving the Public Interest in a Crisis: Does local radio meet the public interest?” published in the December issue of the Journal of Contingencies and Crisis Management.

Researchers looked at how 124 radio stations in the Midwest reported on the 2008 flooding. They concluded that not all coordinated with local authorities to fully inform listeners of the evolving situation, and larger stations were less likely than smaller stations to take seriously their role in crisis management.
