Doctoral student Jaesik Ha will talk on “Partisan Selective Exposure and Presidential Evaluation: Moderating Factors of Priming Effect” at 4 p.m. Nov. 29 in the Ernie Pyle Hall lounge. The talk is part of the school’s Research Colloquium series.

His talk will draw on his most recent research. Using a media consumption survey conducted in 2010 by the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press, Ha and study co-author Sung Wook Ji, doctoral candidate in telecommunications, confirmed individuals’ selective exposure to conservative news programs was associated with a more negative evaluation of President Obama, while individuals’ selective exposure to liberal news programs was associated with a more positive evaluation of the president. They concluded that moderating factors, such as media trust and media bias, can have different impacts on conservative and liberal news consumers.
