Fargo testifies to support public records bill

SoJ Web Report | Jan. 12, 2012
Fargo
Associate professor Anthony Fargo testified in support of House Bill 1093, which would amend state access laws, during an Indiana House Government and Regulatory Reform Committee hearing on Jan. 10.

Fargo, who is a member of the Indiana Coalition for Open Government board of directors, was representing ICOG.

The bill would create civil fines for public officials who knowingly disobey the Access to Public Records Act or Open Door Law. It would also require local governments to alert the public to upcoming meetings via e-mail or on their websites and make other changes to the access laws.
