DRIVING DIRECTIONS TO BLOOMINGTON, IND.
Student workshops: Students will live in Teter Quad, which is on Sunrise Drive (off 10th Street), and registration will take place in the Teter Center building. There will be a large High School Journalism Institute banner hanging on the front of the building.
Teacher workshops: Teachers who have reserved on-campus housing will live in Willkie Quad, which is located on the southeast side of campus between Rose Avenue and Union Street. Check-in will be at the North building. You may park in the half-circle drive to check-in and then park your car behind the building or across the street wherever you find a spot. (A parking decal is required.)
From central Ohio: Take Interstate 70 to Indianapolis, then take the I-465 south bypass to Ind. 37 South. Stay on Ind. 37 South to Bloomington, which is about 50 miles. Take the Ind. 45/46 Bypass past Assembly Hall and the football stadium. Stay on this Ind. 45/46 bypass until you come to 10th Street, then turn right (or west). Take 10th Street to the second stoplight, which is at Sunrise Drive. Turn left and Teter is the complex on your right. Look for the red/white HSJI banner. Teacher workshop participants should take 10th Street to the first stoplight, which is Union, turn left (or south), go three blocks to Seventh Street and turn right. Then take the first left onto Rose Avenue. Willkie is on the left.
From the Cincinnati area: Take Interstate 74 west to Greensburg, Ind., and then take Ind. 46 west (which is very curvy in some areas) to Bloomington. Ind. 46 turns into East Third Street as you enter Bloomington. Some landmarks you will pass will be College Mall and Red Lobster. At the corner of Third and High streets, you will see St. Charles Catholic Church. Proceed through this stoplight and turn right onto Union Street, which is the second road after the stoplight. Go several blocks to the first stoplight, which is 10th Street. Turn left on 10th and go to the next stoplight, which is Sunrise Drive. Turn left and Teter is the complex on your right. Look for the red/white HSJI banner. Teacher workshops: Take Third Street one block past Union Street to Rose Avenue, turn right (north) and Willkie is on your right. (Note: You may prefer taking I-74 all the way to I-465 at Indianapolis, following I-465 south/west to Ind. 37, and following directions above.)
From the Louisville area: Take I-65 north to Columbus, Ind., and then take Ind. 46 west to Bloomington, going through Nashville). Ind 46 turns into East Third Street as you enter Bloomington.
