WIUX callout offers broad array of opportunities

WIUX, the student radio station at IU-B, will host an informational call-out meeting at 9 p.m. Sept. 9 at Jordan Hall 124 for those interesting in getting involved with the station this fall. Both new and returning staff that are interested in being involved either on-air or off should attend.

Possible opportunities include:
  • On air jobs as a music DJ, talk show host, sports analyst, news announcer, engineer, producer; business rep for those seeking sales, business, and marketing experience; programming;
  • Reviewing new music, organizing the WIUX music library, and conducting interviews with musicians;
  • Sports engineering or announcing broadcasts of nine sports including football, basketball, and baseball;
  • Promotions to help WIUX reinforce its branding and imaging efforts by organizing and executing creative promotional campaigns;
  • News preparation and announcing for a one-hour news program and newsbreaks;
  • Organizing concerts, movie screenings, art shows and other community events that raise awareness of WIUX and other local organizations, including the annual day-long music festival, Culture Shock;
  • Engineering the technical operations of a radio station and help set up PA equipment for WIUX and other student-sponsored events;
  • Public relations work such as preparing and sending press releases, the monthly WIUX newsletter and alumni relations;
  • Production, such as creating pre-recorded items using audio editing software that helps reinforce the station’s image on-air;
  • Technology/Web to maintain WIUX.org, the live webstream, podcasts and all other aspects of WIUX’s online presence;
  • Mobile DJ, WIUX’s newest committee, supplies members DJ live for parties, formals and other social events around IU.
