Wiley to speak on U.S., India milk promotions

Andrea Wiley, director of the Human Biology Program at the Department of Anthropology, will speak on “The cultural status of milk as a food for children in India and the U.S: A look at milk promotions” at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3, in the Ernie Pyle Hall lounge.

India and the United States are the top two milk-producing countries, with India's production surpassing that of the U.S. in the past five years. In her presentation, Wiley will compare the cultural status of milk and milk consumption practices in India and the U.S., focusing on milk's meanings as a food for children and drawing on a variety of milk promotional materials countries.

Her talk is part of the School of Journalism’s Research Colloquia, a forum to provide scholars an opportunity to present their work and get feedback from colleagues.
