SoJ Web Report | Jan. 16, 2011
The seven-minute audio stories cover a variety of local issues, such as education funding, health care and costs, homelessness and criminal justice.
Associate professor Mike Conway developed the course in collaboration with WFHB, and with the help of the IU Office of Service Learning and a Lilly Scholarship of Engagement grant. He will host the Interchange program and talk on air with students from the class about the projects. Joining him will be Rachel Cerrone, A. D. Quig, and Eric Stearley.
During the class, students joined station volunteers to work in news and public affairs programming. They also worked on semester-long projects on community issues. Conway said WFHB chose the overall issue areas, and students then researched and reported a story in an area of their choice.
