Patrick Washburn, M.A. ’73, Ph.D. ’84, visits April 7, 2:30 p.m. in the Ernie Pyle Lounge to talk about his work as a journal editor and to provide insight into the world of academic publishing. The professor at Ohio University’s E.W. Scripps School of Journalism has been the editor of Journalism History, this country’s oldest mass communication history journal, for the last seven years.

Washburn has written extensively on this area of journalism history, including A Question of Sedition: The Federal Government’s Investigation of the Black Press During World War II and The African American Newspaper: The Voice of Freedom, which last year won the Tankard Award as the top book at the AEJMC annual conference.
