SPJ hosts talk on ‘Weird Careers in Journalism’

Gena Asher | Nov. 9, 2010
The IU chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists will host a program, “Weird Careers in Journalism,” at its next meeting at 7 p.m. Nov. 16 in the Ernie Pyle Hall lounge.

Journalist Michael Koretzky, former SPJ national board member who has worked as a student media adviser, reporter and blogger, will present the talk via Skype. Koretzky has given this talk on journalism careers at several conferences, including SPJ’s recent national conference in Las Vegas. Several IU students attended and heard the talk there.

Koretzky also is the creator of the SPJ First Amendment Free Food Festival, which the IU group has staged twice this year.

Anyone interested may attend. The group will provide pizza. For more info, follow the IU group on Facebook at or contact IU SPJ president MJ Slaby.
