Columbia School of Journalism professor Michael Schudson visits Oct. 4 to talk about “The Crisis in News: Is it time to panic yet?” at 4 p.m. in the Fine Arts 015.

Schudson and former Washington Post executive editor Leonard Downie wrote "The Reconstruction of American Journalism" last year. His talk will cover that work as well as re-evaluate where the U.S. news industry stands today.

Schudson is author and editor of several books on news media. He has received a MacArthur Foundation "genius" award and was a Guggenheim Fellow, among other honors.
