School hosts fall guest speakers

Visitors to Ernie Pyle Hall:
  • Oct. 8: Keith Robinson, Associated Press bureau chief in Indianapolis and  president of the Indiana Coalition for Open Government, visits J505 Intensive Reporting, Writing, and Editing Workshop.
  • Oct. 8-11: German journalists visit as part of the RIAS exchange program.
  • Oct. 9: David Benner, Media Relations/Public Information Director, Indiana Pacers, visits Weil Visiting Professor Dennis  Elliott’s J321 “Principles of PR” at 4 p.m.
  • Oct. 12: University of Iowa professor Gigi Durham vists to talk about academic careers and jobs in the Ernie Pyle Lounge.
  • Oct. 15-16: Bruce Hetrick of Hetrick Communications talks to J428 PR Planning and Research Oct. 15. Oct. 16, he’ll talk to J110 Foundations of Journalism, J321 Principles of Public Relations and to the Bloomington Rotary Club at noon.
  • Oct 22: Dana Jacobson, ESPN2 "First Take" anchor/reporter, visits J520 and J410. For her classroom discussions, Jacobson will be joined by WRTV-TV anchor/reporter Ray Cortopassi. Jacobson and Cortopassi both started their television careers as reporter/photo journalists in Traverse City, Mich. She’ll also speak at an open session at Woodburn Hall 120 at 7:45 p.m.

    ESPN anchor and alumna Sage Steele visits at 10:30 a.m. in the Ernie Pyle Auditorium. Open to all.
  • Nov. 1: Wall Street Journal columnist Jeff Zaslow talks to Jim Bright’s J110 students at 9:30 a.m. in EP Auditorium.
  • Nov. 5: NBC news correspondent Bob Dotson will talk to Conway’s J520 at 9:30 a.m., EP 157, and to J410, 2:30 p.m., EP 214. Dotson talks to a general audience at 8 p.m. at Ernie Pyle Auditorium.
  • Nov. 7: Ken Paulson is the third guest of the School of Journalism’s Fall 2007 Speaker Series and will speak at 7 p.m. in Alumni Hall in the IMU.
  • Nov. 28: Lesley Fair, a senior attorney for the Federal Trade Commission, will talk about regulation of marketing and advertising to assistant professor Tony Fargo’s J300 section, 9:30 a.m. in the Ernie Pyle Auditorium and professor Jon Dilts’ J300, 2:30 p.m., EP 205. Her specialty is dealing with marketing new media.
