Recruiters to interview for jobs, internships

Two media groups with internships and job openings will visit the School of Journalism soon to find candidates.

First, the Starcom MediaVest recruiting team visits Wednesday, Nov. 11. Those interested in advertising are invited to a half hour information session at 7:30 p.m. in Ballantine Hall, Room 310.

Starcom MediaVest Group, one of the largest brand communication groups in the world, is located in downtown Chicago and specializes in media management, Internet and digital communications, response media, entertainment marketing, sports sponsorships, event marketing and multicultural media. SMG’s clients include Procter and Gamble, Kraft, Sara Lee, Nintendo and Disney. Information regarding winter and summer Internships and full time positions will be provided.

Next, recruiters from the (Louisville, Ky.) Courier-Journal, visit Nov. 18 to interview students for 12-week, full-time paid summer internships in reporting or design. Preference will be given to juniors and above, although there may be space for sophomores. All applicants must submit a resume and cover letter (500 words or less). For reporting, students must also submit a maximum of 10 published clips. Unpublished pieces are accepted if you do not have published work. For design, students must also submit up to 20 samples of work, including layouts, graphics, illustrations and cartoons.

A sign-up sheet will be on the door of EP202 beginning at 8 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 12, for juniors, seniors, graduate students and recent graduates. First come, first served. Sophomores may sign up beginning Friday, 8 a.m., if spaces remain.
