Poynter Scholarship deadline Oct. 20

Apply now for the Poynter Scholarship/Internship, which includes a grant worth several thousand dollars and a summer internship at the St. Petersburg Times. The deadline is Oct. 20.

Eligibility:
  • Juniors who are pursuing a bachelor’s degree in journalism are eligible. The School of Journalism’s scholarship committee chooses the recipient based on outstanding scholarship and dedication to news and editorial journalism.

To apply:
Late applications will not be accepted, and the Scholarship Committee will disregard applications received after 11 p.m. Oct. 20.

Students selected for interviews will be notified by e-mail. Those selected should be prepared to discuss any items contained in the application as well as journalism in general.

The scholarship honors a family long prominent in Indiana journalism, including Nelson Poynter, a former editor-in-chief of the Indiana Daily Student, founder of Congressional Quarterly and the publisher of the St. Petersburg Times.
