Visiting professor Marty Pieratt was interviewed by the Washington Post about his book on Chuck Harmon, The First Black Red, which was published last year.

In the article about Harmon, a Hoosier who grew up near Washington, Ind., and who played for the Cincinnati Reds in the 1950s, Pieratt draws on his many hours of interviews with Harmon and his research into what the sports climate was like during that era.

Pieratt, a former news and sports broadcaster in Cincinnati, also owns a radio station in North Vernon, Ind.
