Kathy Anderson’s photo published Oct. 10, 2005, shows Father George Walker Jr., rector of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in New Orleans walking among the tangled mess of century-old church pews. The church was flooded and remained underwater for four weeks after Hurricane Katrina devastated the city.
A spring photojournalism seminar brings three alumni, all professional photojournalists, to Ernie Pyle Hall to talk about their work and careers as well as offer critiques to student photographers.

Friday, March 28, associate professor Jim Kelly has arranged a full day of workshops and talks, all in EP 214. The sessions are open to all journalism students and Kelly said they should feel free to drop in on sessions as their classes allow and to leave the room as necessary.

Here’s the schedule:
  • 10 a.m., Cincinnati Enquirer videographer Amie Dworecki, M.A. ’06, will talk about "Newspaper Videography."
  • 11:30 a.m., students are invited to lunch with the speakers at the IMU Market.
  • 1 p.m., Indianapolis freelance photographer Mary Ann Carter, B.A. ‘74, will talk about "Freelance Opportunites."
  • 2:30 p.m., New Orleans Times-Picayune photographer Kathy Anderson, B.A. ’80, will talk about “Recovering from Disaster.”
Saturday, March 29, the three photojournalists will participate in a portfolio critique from 9:30 a.m. to noon in EP 210.
