Doctoral student Rosemary Pennington is in Germany this month as a fellow in the RIAS Berlin Commission program.

This is the second time Pennington has received a RIAS fellowship, an exchange program that sends German or U.S. journalists to explore how media works in those countries. She first took part in the program in June 2005 when she was a reporter with WBHM in Birmingham, Ala. This time, she is conducting research on German media coverage and the relationship between native Germans and immigrants.

In previous years, IU students have visited Germany as RIAS fellows and the School of Journalism has hosted German journalists several times.

The RIAS program is part of the Radio Television Digital News Association, which is featuring Pennington's blog. Connect to her work on the RTDNA website.
