Associate professor Radhika Parameswaran was an invited presenter at Yale University Feb. 25 for a two-day research symposium, "Global Oprah: Media Travels of a Transnational Icon." Her presentation, "Global Celebrity Encounters: When India Enters Oprah's Orbit," is part of her ongoing research on representations of a rising India in Western media.

Presenters at the symposium included scholars from Australia, Ireland, Canada and Israel. Parameswaran and IU associate professor Brenda Weber, Gender Studies, also assisted lead organizer Kathryn Lofton, assistant professor, Yale University, in identifying potential conference participants and putting together the conference schedule.
