NYT reporter to address coverage of human trafficking

SoJ Web Report | Feb. 19, 2012
Damien Cave, foreign correspondent for The New York Times based in Mexico City, will visit campus to talk about his work covering human trafficking issues. The program begins at 7 p.m. March 6 in Whittenberger Auditorium and is sponsored by the IU Student Association and IU Campus Coalition Against Trafficking.

Cave’s work in Mexico includes covering the drug wars that have taken root in that country. One of his most recent stories was about a seizure of 15 tons of methamphetamine. He also follows cultural change, such as the migration patterns that are changing Latin America and border towns.

Cave previously worked as the Times’ Miami bureau chief, as a correspondent from Baghdad covering American troop surge, and as a political reporter covering New York and New Jersey. He was among a team of reporters who were finalists for a Pulitzer Prize in international reporting.
