The HNS offers op-ed commentaries that place current issues into historical perspectives, according to its website.
In his address to the HNS, Nord wrote, “People are hungry for good journalism and for real history. The History News Service is a splendid project because it feeds those two appetites together.”
He also talked about news organizations’ collaborations with nonprofits such as the HNS as a way to bring content to struggling media while adding the “perspective of solid, scholarly history into the public sphere.”
