The School of Journalism will host an information session at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 22 in the Ernie Pyle Hall auditorium for those students who want to more details about spring courses that include travel.
Courses scheduled for spring include:
- From London to Paris: In the Footsteps of Ernie Pyle takes students to England and France to trace the World War II correspondent's journeys.
- Devices of Wonder: New Media, New Identities, New Social Movement examines the roles new media play in journalism by taking students to the South by Southwest Interactive Festival in Austin, Texas.
- Media of Color: Ethnic and Indigenous Communications Worldwide will take students to Australia to study different approaches to gathering and disseminating information, specifically in Aboriginal and Maori culture.
- International Reporting will send students on a reporting mission to Japan to cover a range of international issues, and to meet with foreign correspondents and reporters for international media outlets who report for a global audience.
- International Public Relations: Tourism Communication takes students to see international tourism public relations in action in a major international tourist destination: Italy.
- Reporting on HIV/AIDS in Africa gives students experience in health reporting while spending three weeks in Eldoret and Nairobi, Kenya, where they work with Kenyan journalism students, meet with African journalists and explore the IU-Kenya Partnership's AMPATH project. Details and applications available in December.
