J520, city to show volunteer videos

Gena Asher | Feb. 14, 2008
The City of Bloomington Volunteer Network and the School of Journalism’s fall J520 Video Storytelling class will present a showcase of videos celebrating the city’s volunteers Feb. 20, 6-8 p.m. at the Cinemat, 123 S. Walnut St.

In the fall, assistant professor Mike Conway’s students interviewed people who volunteer for a variety of community agencies through the BVN, a clearinghouse for prospective volunteers to match themselves with agencies. Students shot and edited video and put together a Web site to allow anyone to view their efforts.

Fourteen videos of less than 10 minutes each are set for the screening. The event, billed as a "thank you" to the community, is free and open to the public.
