Indiana AP chief to report on newspaper hiring survey

April 19, 2009
The Associated Press’ Indiana bureau chief Keith Robinson visits Wednesday to talk about his recent survey of newspapers’ hiring prospects. All are welcome to attend this Lunch with a Pro session at noon in the journalism library. Lunch is provided, but space is limited.

Robinson surveyed newspaper publishers and editors in Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Michigan and Kentucky on skills they’re looking for in journalism school graduates.

Robinson also will talk to students in Visiting Professor Joe Coleman’s J341 Newspaper Reporting class.

Before taking over the Indianapolis AP office, Robinson was AP bureau chief for Connecticut for two years. He joined AP in 1984 after working for newspapers in the Midwest and his native Philadelphia. As editor or reporter, he covered the inmate uprising in Lucasville, Ohio, in the 1990s; the firing of Bob Knight; and the execution of Timothy McVeigh.

E-mail Coleman if you plan to attend. Space is filling fast.
