ICPA awards 103 prizes to IU student media

IU student media had “a great showing” at the Indiana Collegiate Press Associations awards lunch Saturday, according to IDS editorial adviser Ruth Witmer. IU’s staffers in the advertising department, the Arbutus, the Indiana Daily Student, idsnews.com, INside and Weekend received 103 awards.
  • Senior Carrie Ritchie won Brook Baker Indiana College Journalist of the Year.
  • The late David Adams, former student media director, received the Inglehart-Adams Adviser Award, a new honor named for Dave and Ball State’s Louis Ingelhart.
  • IU students won 97 individual awards for writing, photography, design and online work and four overall awards for Best in Category to Inside, Indiana Daily Student, Arbutus and Advertising.
ICPA’s awards luncheon and conference recognizes the best student work in newspapers, magazines, yearbooks, print ads and online work. This year’s event was at Indiana State University in Terre Haute.
