Junior Bradi Andrews has a solution for young college students who want to make a difference in upcoming primaries and fall’s president election: Learn, then vote.

Andrews and other members of her team from C223 Business Communications have developed a campaign to raise awareness about the election process. Andrews is using her journalism and reporting skills to help gather information and explain the process to IU students.

“We have a Web site and we’re distributing flyers to make students more aware of the importance of voting and of the issues and candidates,” said Andrews. “We’re contacting candidates to invite them to an event where students can hear in person what the issues are.”

The Web site, Hoosier Vote, includes info on how to register to vote, where to vote and presidential candidates’ bios. The project is underway through the end of the semester and just in time for Indiana’s primary May 6.

“For some students, this is the first time they’ve been old enough to vote, and we want to offer a resource for them to make that easier,” Andrews said. “Each vote counts.”
