Ross Hazeltine, B.S. ’38 (business), set up the Ross Hazeltine Travel Scholarship as part of his estate to send those with freshly-minted degrees outside North America to better understand other cultures. Since its inception in 1978, the scholarship has taken alumni to nearly all continents to photograph and write about life in other countries.
Seawell, B.A.J. ‘09, is looking at American Civil War in the United Kingdom. As he travels to re-enactments in the U.K., he’s collecting photos, videos and other information about the appeal of the U.S. Civil War in England. At his Web site, viewers can mark his progress this summer by examining photos and videos and by reading his blog about his project’s progress.
LaMantia, B.A.J. ‘09, is exploring how Eastern European immigration is affecting family life in Italy. Based in Florence, LaMantia will use multimedia to investigate how the shift of responsibility in caretaking is affecting Italian families and the larger makeup of the culture.
