Hamm joins Poynter advisory board

School of Journalism Dean Brad Hamm is one of six new members of the Poynter Institute’s National Advisory Board, the organization announced last week.

Based in St. Petersburg, Fla., the institute trains journalists and journalism teachers through workshops and special programs. Poynter’s press release said the six new members represent diverse areas of media.

Joining Hamm as new members are:
  • Sewell Chan, city room bureau chief at The New York Times
  • Cory Bergman, director of new product development at msnbc.com
  • Michelle Jaconi, executive producer at CNN
  • Betsy Morgan, recent CEO at Huffington Post
  • Melanie Sill, editor and senior vice president at The Sacramento Bee

Seven other board members remain through their four-year terms. Three retired this year.
