Each semester, professors and instructors invite professionals to their classrooms to give career advice and talk about their own work.
For Spring 2008, here is schedule of classsroom visitors as of Jan. 22:
- Jan. 16: Simon Warr, director of global communications for Jaguar/Land Rover, will talk about "PR in a time of transition" in Winslow Visiting Professor Jim Bright’s J460 International PR class, 9:30 a.m., EP 214.
- Jan. 16: Al Veach, principal of the new Bloomington Tech High School, visits J428 PR Planning and Research, 4:15 p.m., EP 214.
- Jan. 23: Toby Strout, executive director of Middle Way House, visits J428 PR Planning and Research, 4:15 p.m. in EP 214.
- Jan. 29: Sarah Melton, public relations director for the Dallas Mavericks, will talk to the PRSSA chapter members about media relations in the NBA. Time and place to be announced.
- Jan. 30: Jessica Hatchigan, speechwriter for Bosch, an automotive supplier in Detroit, will talk about ghostwriting in Winslow Visiting Professor Jim Bright’s J428 PR Planning and Research, 4:15 p.m. in EP 214.
- Feb. 4: Jim Trainor, director of media relations, Hyundai, will visit Winslow Visiting Professor Jim Bright’s J460 International PR class at 9:30 a.m. and J428 PR Planning and Research at 4:15 p.m. Both are in EP 214.
- Feb. 18: Alumnus Jeff Molter, B.A. ’79, vice president of communications at Emory University in Atlanta, will talk about PR case studies in Winslow Visiting Professor Jim Bright’s J428 PR Planning and Research, 4:15 p.m. in EP 214.
- Feb. 20: Alumnus Matt Barnhart, B.S. ’97 (kinesiology), media relations director for the Detroit Lions, will talk about media relations in the NFL in Winslow Visiting Professor Jim Bright’s J428 PR Planning and Research, 4:15 p.m. in EP 214.
- Feb. 25: Jim Olson, retired vice president of communications for Toyota North America and adjunct business professor at Winthrop University, will talk about Toyota’s long-term PR strategies in Winslow Visiting Professor Jim Bright’s J460 International PR class, 9:30 a.m., EP 214.
- Feb. 27: Jim Treece, industry editor for Automotive News, will talk about his experience as a Western journalist living in Japan in Winslow Visiting Professor Jim Bright’s J460 International PR class, 9:30 a.m., EP 214.
- March 24: Alumnus Chris Sautter of Sautter Films in Washington, D.C., visits J428 PR Planning and Research, 4:15 p.m., EP 214. He’ll talk about his work as a political consultant and the 2008 presidential election.
- TBA: Alumna Marilyn Shank, partner of Shank Public Relations in Indianapolis, visits J428 PR Planning and Research, 4:15 p.m., EP 214.
