Tim Franklin, director of the IU School of Journalism’s National Sports Journalism Center, has been elected to the board of the American Society of News Editors. Franklin joined the school earlier this year as the Louis A. Weil Endowed Chair.

The ASNE board includes four officers, immediate past president and 15 additional members. At its late April meeting, the group also voted to change its name from “newspaper” to “news” to reflect the shift from paper-based media to digital. ASNE also changed its bylaws to open membership to editors of online news providers and to leaders in collegiate journalism programs.
