The recent work of the Final Four News Bureau covering the NCAA men’s basketball tournament in Indianapolis has attracted attention – and kudos – from education and sports organizations.

Students from IUPUI and IU formed the bureau in order to fully cover the action in Indianapolis. They filed stories and photos at a Web site designed to showcase the coverage.

The Chronicle of Higher Education posted a story about the project based on a reporter’s interviews with National Sport Journalism Center Director Tim Franklin and several student reporters. The NSJC, based in Indianapolis, organized the bureau.

The sports blog, Fang’s Bites, also mentioned the news bureau and linked to several stories. The blog used as an example IU journalism graduate student John Patishnock’s interviews with other sportswriters on diversity among college basketball broadcast analysts.
