HBO’s Baghdad Hospital: Inside the Red Zone will be shown Thursday, 7 p.m. in Radio-TV 251 and the filmmaker, Omer Salih Mahdi, will be on hand for a question and answer session afterward. Mahdi, a medical doctor, used a handheld camera inside the emergency room at Al-Yarmouk Hospital to reveal injuries sustained by Iraqi people. HBO describes the film as chronicling “the chaos both inside the ER and on the streets of Baghdad.”
The Department of Communication and Culture, Film and Media Studies, Department of Near Eastern Languages and Cultures and the School of Journalism are sponsoring the screening and Mahdi’s visit. The event is free and open to the public.
Friday, Mahdi will host a round table discussion at 9 a.m. in Classroom Office Building Room 100. All are welcome to attend.
