File now to graduate

Gena Asher | Sept. 21, 2010
If you plan to graduate in December or May, August or December 2011, file for graduation now.

The deadline is Oct. 4 for those graduating in December who want to be listed in the commencement booklet.

Those graduating in December also may wish to attend the Fall Grad Fair Oct. 7-8 at the IU Bookstore in the IMU. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Students may arrange cap and gown rental, purchase announcements and get other info about commencement exercises.

Those graduating in May must file before spring early registration, which is Oct. 21 to Nov. 19.  Use the online graduation applications forms on the Forms page. Students will receive e-mails confirming their applications.

School of Journalism recorder Jean Person said journalism majors should file for graduation a year in advance to ensure that they have proper guidance from advisers to meet their course requirements and deadlines.

To set up an appointment, contact Linda Long at 855-9248 or sign up in academic adviser Lauren Kinzer’s book on Long’s counter in EP 200. Walk-ins are welcome, too.

For more information, check out the School of Journalism graduation page and the Indiana University commencement Web site.

Other info:

  • The IU Bookstore offers cap and gown rental. All graduates must wear caps and gowns to take part in commencement. You also may purchase announcements and diploma frames at the bookstore.
