Doctoral students’ work at AEJMC conference

Two doctoral students’ work will be presented at the Associate for Education in Journalism and Mass Communications midwinter conference March 5-7 on the campus of the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma.

Doctoral student Mohammaed Al-Azdee’s paper, “The swine flu Middle East comparative religious picture portrayed by The New York Times," has been accepted by the newspaper division.

Stacie Meihaus Jankowski’s paper, “Amy Juergens Has a Bun in the Oven: Sex and Consequences in ‘The Secret Life of the American Teenager,’” was completed as part of assistant professor Mike Conway’s  J651 Qualitative Research Methods and was accepted into the entertainment studies interest group.

Her second paper, titled “Jesus the Healer Radio Files: Faith healing and Internet evangelism,” was accepted into the religion and media interest group and was completed as part of a class in the religious studies department.

Doctoral student Rosemary Pennington’s paper is "’Say I am You’ — or Not: Narratives of the ‘other’ in children’s illustrated atlases." The textual analysis was conducted during J651 Qualitative Research Methods taught by Conway in fall last. The paper was accepted by the cultural and critical studies division.
