Eighteen high school students attending the first Diversity Sports Media Institute in Indianapolis last summer will see their work hit the airwaves this week on the Indianapolis public television affiliate.

Getting There! will air on WFYI-TV Thursday, Sept. 30, at 7:30 p.m. The video was produced by students at the June workshop, which was organized by the IU National Sports Journalism Center and funded by the McCormick Foundation.

As part of their work, students interviewed and wrote about guests of the institute, including high-profile players and coaches such as IU men’s basketball coach Tom Crean, and former IU and NBA standout Isiah Thomas. The video was a capstone project to the two-week workshop.
