Dilts to lead Bloomington Rotary Club

The Bloomington Rotary Club elected associate professor Jon Dilts to be its president for 2011-2012. Until then, he will work with the leadership of the club as president-elect and as a member of its Board of Directors.

Dilts is the Club’s third journalism professor to lead the club. Preceding him in the post were John E. Stempel, 1945-46, and Floyd Arpan, 1969-70. Other current members of Bloomington Rotary with ties to the School of Journalism are Ralph Winslow Visiting Professor Jim Bright, Student Media Director Ron Johnson, Del Brinkman (MA ’63, PhD ’71), David Albright, Judy Schroeder and Bob Zaltsberg.

Dilts joined Rotary in 1998, sponsored by the late journalism professor Will Counts.

The Bloomington Rotary Club dates to 1918 and has 115 members and several honorary members. Rotary clubs promote community and charitable service related to public health, education and international relations. Rotary has 370,000 members in the United States and 1.2 million worldwide.
