The February 2009 government-mandated switch from analog to digital television broadcast directly affects households that receive their signals over the air. But digital strategist Andrew W. Thornhill, founder of The Digital Television Report, says the switch offers future opportunities for new channels, new programming, new technologies, new revenues and, possibly, new audiences.

Thornhill will share his thoughts Wednesday, Nov. 12, during a visit to IU and to the School of Journalism in talks entitled “The 4 Winners Marketplace.” Lillian R. Dunlap of Communication Research Enterprises will join him.

A former cable television station manager, Thornhill has spent 40 years in all aspects of media, including production, management and finance. His Digital Television Report program is based on research about digital media and includes radio shows, speaking engagements such as this one, a resource center and two books.

Communication Research Enterprises CEO Lillian Dunlap is an affiliate faculty at the Poynter Institute for Media Studies in Florida and is a former professor of broadcast news at the Missouri School of Journalism. CRE partners with the Digital Television Report national tours.
