Associate professor Claude Cookman is the first place winner in the 2010 “Best Practices in Teaching of Critical Thinking Competition sponsored by the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication’s Teaching Committee.

Cookman’s entry is “Fostering generic and discipline-specific critical thinking in large courses through oppositional readings and Web-based pedagogy.”

The committee has sponsored “best-practice” competitions for the last five years, focusing on different topics each time. Cookman and the other 2010 winners will be honored at the AEJMC convention in Denver in August.
