Associate professor Mike Conway’s book, The Origins of Television News in America: The Visualizers of CBS in the 1940s, is one of three nominated for the Tankard Book Award, an annual prize given by the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication.

The book, published last year, looks at development of the television newscast, specifically the people who experimented with the medium in its earliest years, developing what became the modern-day TV newscast.

The award will be presented at the AEJMC’s conference in Denver in August.
