Conway's article, "The Extemporaneous Newscast: The lasting impact of Walter Cronkite's local television news experiment," was published in the summer 2009 issue of the journal, the association’s main publication.
Also, doctoral candidate Bill Gillis received an honorable mention for his article, "'Rebellion in the Kingdom of Swat': Sportswriters, African American athletes and coverage of Curt Flood's lawsuit against Major League Baseball.”
Professor Dave Nord was a featured panelist on a conference panel, "Moving Forward: Journalism as a form of public history."
Other School of Journalism students and faculty contributed to the organization through donations for a fundraiser auction that netted $1,500 during the conference. All proceeds went to graduate students to defray the costs of travel expenses.
Conway collected auction items from IU colleagues, including associate professor Radhika Parameswaran, WTIU/WFIU general manager Perry Metz and associate professor emerita Holly Stocking.
