| A student had to cover up her T-shirt logo when she gave up her First Amendment rights during the April festival. SPJ and NABJ are sponsoring the second one Tuesday. |
The IU chapters of the Society of Professional Journalists and National Association of Black Journalists are sponsoring the event. Participants entering the free food area will have to give up their rights to free speech, a free press, freedom of religion and right to congregate in exchange for food supplied from the third sponsor, BTown Menus. SPJ and NABJ members will be on hand to “police” the crowd.
The object is to educate students about the importance of their First Amendment rights, according to organizers. In the spring, the two groups launched the first festival, which drew more than 100 people.
