Doctoral student Lindita Camaj has been awarded a grant from the Open Society Institute (SOROS) Foundation to support her dissertation field work abroad in the fall.

The Global Supplementary Grant for doctoral students will allow Camaj to travel to the Balkans to work on her research, which investigates the role of mass media in the democratization processes in transitional societies. She will conduct surveys, talk to focus groups and conduct content analyses that aim at understanding how newly-established free media institutions affect political culture in this region.
