IDS art director Larry Buchanan painted the cover for the INside magazine issue on DIY. Buchanan is SSND’s Designer of the Year.

Junior Larry Buchanan is the Student Society for New Design’s designer of the year, the SSND announced last week at the Missouri School of Journalism, where the chapter hosts the College News Design contest each year.

Buchanan is art director at the Indiana Daily Student, where he has won many other awards for his work, including those from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association, Society of Professional Journalists and Indiana Collegiate Press Association.

Competitors submit portfolios of their work for consideration in the contest. Buchanan wins $750 toward attending the national Society for News Design conference in Denver this summer.
