Leigh Moscowitz, PhD ’08, is one of four AEJMC Scholars Program recipients.
Alumna Leigh Moscowitz is one of four honorees in the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communications Scholars Program, the organization announced recently.

Moscowitz, PhD ’08, now an assistant professor of communication at the College of Charleston in Charleston, S.C., plans to use the award of $2,500 to support her research on "Gay Marriage in the News." Her dissertation on news coverage of the gay marriage debate won the 2009 Nafziger-White-Salwen Award for the top dissertation in the field by AEJMC.

This is the inaugural year for the AEJMC Scholars Program, which drew 61 applications. Each proposal selected for funding was also matched with a recognized scholar to serve as a mentor throughout the project. The mentor will serve as a resource and sounding board as the work progresses.

AEJMC will showcase initial results at the 2010 AEJMC conference in Denver this summer.
