Professor Jack Dvorak and doctoral student Changhee Choi’s article, “High School Newspaper or Yearbook Experiences and Their Relationships with Academic Performance,” has been accepted for publication in the summer edition of Newspaper Research Journal. The article examines a database of more than 31,000 students who took the ACT exams. The authors found that students with journalism experience significantly outperformed non-journalism students in 14 of 17 academic measures, including freshman college grades, sophomore college writing samples, ACT tests taken in high school and high school grades.
