Weaver accepts Deutschmann Award

The panelists for Weaver’s talk and discussion were IU alumna Brooke Barnett, now of Elon University; Dean Brad Hamm; Donald Shaw of University of North Carolina; Weaver; and Maxwell McCombs of University of Texas at Austin. Weaver accepted the Deutschmann award during the AEJMC convention.

Faculty and students who attended AEJMC in Boston Aug. 4-9 heard the latest research and presented their own work during the convention.

Flanked by his family, former mentors and other scholars, Roy W. Howard Professor David Weaver accepted the Paul J. Deutschmann Award for Excellence in Research. He is the first IU professor to receive this award.

Sophomore Thomas Miller, whose research, “The Legacy of Yellow Journalism: An Issue of Class, Education, and Ambition,” was presented in the convention’s History Division, met with W. Joseph Campbell of American University and other scholars.
