Team evaluates PR program

The week of accreditation activity continues Wednesday through Friday as a team looks at the public relations classes and programming at the School of Journalism.

Public Relations Society of America’s Cathryn Gibbs Harris and Judy VanSlyke Turk will observe classes, talk to PR instructors and chat with former and current students in their efforts to review and report on the program.

Gibbs teaches at Marshall University and VanSlyke Turk, who also was a member of the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communications accrediting team that reviewed and prepared a report earlier this week, is director of Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of Mass Communications.

For the PR review, the two also will meet with community organizations PR classes have worked with in recent semesters, such as administrators from Boys & Girls Clubs and Big Brothers/Big Sisters.
