| Pulitzer Prize winner Tom French, B.A. ‘81 |
French, B.A. ’81, will talk about "The Impossibility of the World" at noon in Alumni Hall. Attendees will include student and professional members from Region 5, which includes Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky, who will attend several workshops in the morning and afternoon.
French, a 27-year veteran of the St. Petersburg Times, is known for his serial narratives, book-length features that are printed chapter by chapter in the newspaper. The narratives have ranged from stories of teen mothers to small town murders to children of Asian immigrants. In 1998, French won the Pulitzer Prize in the biographical feature category for “Angels and Demons,” a serial narrative chronicling the Tampa Bay murders of three Ohio women and the search for the killer.
Professionals, many of whom also are alumni, will lead workshops that will cover reporting, visual storytelling and tips on getting jobs. French will lead one of those sessions, “Hunting and Gathering: Reporting for Story.”
Registration is $65 for student members, $85 for professional members and student non-members, and $125 for professional non-members. The deadline for registration is Friday.
